A inglese ho deciso di parlare del "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" perchè siccome ad arte porto il realismo americano, è collegato perchè è nato proprio negli Stati Uniti.

The United States of America is an enormous country, it's the third biggest country in the world and it has the third largest population (329 milion).

It's about 4,830 km from the east to the west coast.

From New York to San Francisco there are four time zones. So when, it's lunchtime in New york, it's breakfast time in San Francisco.

The Pacific Ocean is in the west and the Atlantic Ocean is in the east. Canada is to the north and Mexico is to the south.

Whashington DC is the capital, but New York is the biggest city. There are 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska.

The geography of the USA is extremely diverse, there is an enormous plain in the centre and the Appalachian Mountains are in the east.

The highest point is Mount McKinley (6,168 m) in Alaska and the lowest is Death Valley (86 metres below sea-level) in California.

Alaska is also the coldest place in the USA and Death Valley is the hottest.

The landscape differs from tropical beaches and wetlands in Florida to deserts in the west; from the Artica landscape of Alaska to the prairies of the central plain and the wilderness in the north-east.

The USA is also home to the Grand Canyon and the Yosemite Valley in the west, the Mississipi River in the south and the Great Lakes and Niagara Falls in the north.

There are many different climate zones in the USA, so there's every sort of weather: it's very hot and dry in the south westreezing cold in the north east and hot and humid in the southern states. The USA gets a lot of extreme weather.

The hottest temperature on earth (an incredible 56.7 C) was mesured in Death Valley in 1913 and the temperature there reached 54 C in June 2013.

Hurricanes are frequent in the south east and there's an area called "Tornado Alley" where a tornado destroyed part of Oklahoma City in 2013.

PANDA

Ad inglese ho deciso di parlare del panda perchè mi ha interessata molto una notizia che avevo letto su internet. L'ex presidente della repubblica popolare cinese, quando andò a far visita alla regina Elisabetta le portò in omaggio un panda.

Il panda gigante o panda maggiore è un mammifero appartenente alla famiglia degli orsi.

I panda giganti sono una specie a rischio, minacciata di continuo dall'impoverimento del loro habitat e da un tasso di natalità molto basso.

Il panda è il simbolo del WWF, un'organizzazione che si occupa di preservare le specie a rischio di estinzione.

Il panda gigante è dotato di un insolito palmo, fornito da un cosiddetto "falso pollice" che gli consente di afferrare le canne di bambù, che porta poi alla bocca e sbuccia con i denti per poi mangiarne la polpa.

Il panda è lungo circa 1,50 ed ha un peso che può variare dagli 80 ai 200 kg. Può vivere di solito fino ai 35/40 anni.

I panda giganti vivono solitari per tutto l'anno, tranne per il periodo degli amori.

A differenza di altri panda, essi non vanno in letargo ma rimangono sempre attivi.
